Now as I understand it you need a special DVD player to play these?

I dont fully understand why analog RCA is supposed to sound better something about copy protection like thing to stop people copying to a CD so it downsamples the DVD-A source when used with a digital connection, can someone please explain this to me?

Ok so Im going to need a 5.1 RCA connector what do these look like can I just use 3 standard stereo RCA cords?

The best value DVD-Audio/SACD player is the Pioneer DV-676a. You can buy this for around $200.

The analogue RCA will not sound better. They have done this to prevent copying of the discs (I dont understand this either).

Yes it is a pain that you cant use a coaxil or optical cable for SACD and DVD-A, these would sound a lot better. Apparently you can use firewire digital connection, but who can afford a $2000 dvd player and $2000 receiver to have this digital connection.

Therefore you can use the 2 audio cables from these av cables. You probably dont want to use the video (coaxil) one though. So you will may need to buy another set(s) from DSE or somewhere to get the six cables you need.

Hi HCMan,

As an owner of a Denon 2900, I have experienced both SACD and DVD-A. First I will state that the formats are better than CD, however, I still would not recommend you buying a multiformat player unless you have the money to go to spend on High end gear.

SACD's and DVD-A's albums are hard to purchase, there are not that many around in Australia, and if you dont like Classic music or Jazz then your selection is very limited. Things are very slowly improving though.

Multi channel SACD and DVD-A players have 6 RCA outputs as expected, 2 for front, 2 fpr rear and 1 for the centre and sub. Not all surround processors have the facility for 6 channel inputs but most do in recent years.

If you are simply after the convenience of an all in one player then multiformat players are the way to go, however if you are after sound quality you are best to go for a dedicated CD player and seperate DVD player. Sony makes some very good CD/SACD players and some also have DVD video as well.

Hope this helps

I have heard different
apparently RCA analog allows full quality whereas digital connection causes the downsampling or whatever its called.

I have a pioneer 6.1 receiver and will be looking to get the DV-676a.
Is that high end enough?

I have 3 x red and white RCA cables with the yellow's removed that makes 6 all up.
