This is my very first time purchasing a tv and I'm not sure which one I should get. I'm planning on getting a samsung CS29 68cm Flatscreen at JB-HIFI but im not sure if I should get something cheaper? it cost around $580 and originally I just wanted a TV that could play well, with nice images, alrite sound, that cost around $300.

I saw a TV at Straithfiled XMS 68cm Flat Screen TV for about $330 but I don't know anything about that TV and unsure of which one is better. i have read specifications and features of the Samsung one at the samsung site but it seems pretty average? Well I don't know much about TVs so someone plese help me!!!!!!! :(   !!!!

Samsung is not a great TV brand. Neither is XMS, but you get what you pay for. The XMS will be much better value. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Is the Samsung brand not great because it's not reliable? What Flat Screen do you (or anybody reading this) would suggest? Price range about $700 + below. Nothing magnificent but playable, and not constantly breaking down, with good/alright picture and sound, preferably with great menu options. Thank you in advanced.

I beg to differ.

Samsung make some very nice TVs. They have developed quite a good reputation for high end stuff.

However, the OP is obviously not talking about high end equipment. What the OP is willing to spend is not much and so the expectations cannot be high. In that situation I would get the cheapest and be done with it. It is not like you are going to have it forever...
