DTMS made one of the phonediscs until Telstra
stomped them and stopped them doing that.

emule is one of the P2P file sharing systems.

can the telstra (or is it sensis) released whitepages be modified to allow
reverse lookups?

It's claimed to be possible. I havent actually seen that claim proven tho.

I havent bothered, essentially because the DTMS worked pretty well.

I might get off my arse when the last DTMS has got
a bit more obsolete and have a proper look at doing it.

There isnt likely to be much rocket science involved.

Don't bother looking on Emule. I own the last edition of DTMS's
Phonedisc (July 2004).

When reinstalling all my apps onto a newly bought PC the other day, I
couldn't find the disc. I looked everywhere (or so I had thought). I
checked out the local Hardly Normal and Officeworks, but they only had
the Telstra version (OW had an ancient DSTMS product, but the cheap/non
reverse number lookup version).

So, I've been checking out the P2P networks, in a bid to get a copy. No
joy there, either.

Today, when searching through my work bag looking for a pay docket, I
found the Phonedisc. What the hell it was doing in there I have no idea.

It must have been a very superficial check.

I checked eMule 5 mins ago for the heck of it. There were more than 20
sources there. And that's at about 3am! I started a download and the
download rate was excellent - over 40 KBPS. So the download would probably
have completed within a couple of hours if I had let it continue running.
However, no need because I have a legit CD of the DtMS Phonedisc.

Depends on how you define "superficial". I'm running Emule in standard
configuration. I entered combinations of DTMS, Phonedisc, Phone disc,
etc. The search results came up zip.

Not that it matters, as I found my legit copy.

And here's a link to a screen shot of Emule searching for instances of
dtms and phonedisc. You can see the tabbed windows which display zero
results.

Perhaps you can reciprocate....

Ah, found out why I wasn't picking it up. You've got an option, "global

I too am seeing the same search results...

Like I said, cant even manage the simplest
stuff without a seeing eye dog and a white cane.

No wonder it needs a union.
