Telstra have the imate pda2k (xdaIIs) for around $55 x 24 mths on a MRO with
a $150 plan, or if you pay some and drop the price down to $999 then you can
lower the monthly plan to $60 and have an MRO of about $42. These are very
rough figures from my own enquiries a couple of weeks back.

Well I dont think you will ever save any by buying an item via Telstra MRO,
as it is simply their RRP divided by the amount of mths you want to repay it
on. The only other factor is that the cost level of the handset dictates
what minimum monthly spend plan you can go on.

Its basically just an interest-free repayment option. Nothing more, nothing
less
