Mindless pig ignorant drivel.

Stupid approach in my opinion.

I seem to remember many years ago telling Optarse to FUCK OFF and
refused to pay out a contract because they blocked 112 calls.

I had a situation where I repeatedly dialed 000 and 112 on the handset
and the calls continually dropped out making it impossible to get a
message out. I then had to take the phone out of it's cover, remove the
battery and the SIM and then put the phone back together. The first
call to 112 went straight through.

Optarse didn't give a shit at the time, admitted that was the way they
had set up their network and SIM cards and refused to fix it. I was
hassled for a while until I abused the shit out of a debt collector
telling them what happened and NEVER heard from them or Optarse again.

It may well have been fixed up because this was the early days of GSM
and a long time ago. But I have refused to go near them again because
of it.

I've sometimes wondered whether this problem could arise because
of Timing Advance being to large (ie, TA > 63 because we're
more than 35 km from a BTS). If the home network has good
signal strength, but TA > 63, a 112 call would repeatedly fail
if only that network was tried. Take out the SIM, there's no
home network, and the strongest signal might well be from a
network with TA <= 63.

Its called a phone fault
Get over it.
I have always been able to make 112 calls from any Optus service from all
the Optus SPs I have used

You find yourself in emergency situations a lot, then?

Not really. Maybe once or twice a year.
Seen a couple of blokes bashing each other up, a few car crashes
