So who pays for the infrastructure and capital expendure * The Fairies * I
suppose .
Your babbling on without a clue as always.

The company will have to meet possible interest and continual maintenance
and operational costings . Thats not free.
Look at 3 they have spent a small fortune and have been making losses for 3
years writing off the infrastucture.

There is heaps of spare capacity in the fixed line network, always has, and
always will.

Mobiles is much more tight

No where near Telstra GSM.

I very much doubt it will be 1/4/5

Irrelevant to the marginal cost to the network operator of the credit, fuckwit.

Irrelevant, fuckwit.

Like I said that credit is a hell of a lot cheaper than advertising, fuckwit.

Giving out that free credit to acquire a new *subscriber* (not just
once-off purchase) is probably relatively cheap. It's obviously going
to cost them less than $30.

In another industry I'm involved in it is not unusual to pay $100+ to
acquire a subscriber, even though it's a competitive industry and
margins are tight. Think long term.

And how many of those people are actually going to use the service past the
$30 free credit?

My guess? Less than 50%

In real terms, probably bugger all cost. Unlike say, when you turn a
light on, that's calcuable energy being used. How can the cost of a call
be measured? And another, SMS messages. Profit margin aside, are they
worth anything, other than what it costs to install a few message
servers and a few bods to maintain them?

Who cares ? Its still a very cheap way to suck in those who do stay.
