Hi,
I just purchased a Hyundai HYDVB1 digital set-top box and have a few
questions regarding it.. Firstly I cant find this particular model on there
web sites at all, http://www.hdt.co.kr/eng/default.asp . I have emailed them
regarding this but still have no response. Does anyone have any informtion
about this particular model? Is there any firmware upgrades? A problem I
have with it is it keeps on making crackling noises and going all blocky. I
can view the reception signal strength on the screen and it seems to jump
from 75-78-82%, It continually changes the quality and strength even when
the reception on the screen is fine... Maybe there is a fault with this box?
Another problem I have is when i switch AV channels to get to the decoder
box, it comes up black and white. Then I can flick through the AV channels
then it comes back to color (mayabe a TV problem)...
Has anyone else experienced any of these problems?
Thanks
Glenn

Hi,
It is not made by the real Hyundai, but a different mob
http://www.hyundaicorp.com/eng/
The receiver is no longer on the web site, seemed to have been removed about
3 months ago
To read about receivers, refer to the forums on here
http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?s=e86e1a10ad40afb5878b8b829bd02957&showforum=3
Hope this helps. I don't have this type of receiver.
Can you tell me what role the smart card slot plays. I never was able to get
the company tell me what it could or couldn't support. Can you please tell
me what the manual says, and whether it is an actual proper slot, or is it a
dummy one ?

Thanks for the reply,
Yeh i cant beleive theres no technical info anywhere regarding this model..
Maybe its a dud that they dont want
to talk about....
As for the card slot, I tried sticking in a old fox card 2day, it went in
about 1cm, then seems to get stuck...
And in the manual they dont even mention it at all. Where they have the
picture of the unit and labels for all
the buttons etc on it, they dont even say or label what the slots for....

I have exactly the same problems as you and I blamed my old antenna system.
I upgraded all the cable to quad shield with f-type connectors etc, and it
still makes no difference.
I find that I don't get any breakup in the shows itself but only in the ads.
Explain that!??
I don't have the colour problem like you have.
Anyway I have just bought a Teac HD box and have no dropouts or problems
whatsoever.
I put it down to a cheap, low sensitivity tuner.
