Our second dvd player is playing up and it is only a matter of time before it dies and so I will need to get another and so I am looking for recommendations.

I really do not want to spend much more than $100. It must be region free. Play burnt media. Play NTSC too. Have 5.1 out (inc dts out). Have S-video and component out. Be reliable with a good picture. (An ability to display jpegs would be nice but this is not critical.)

Some players that I have seen on sale already are...

Nintaus N9739
Thompson DTH208
Viewmaster VM-967

So please make your recommendations with reasons and/or any comments you have on the above players. Please remember that this is the second dvd player and not the main entertainment focus so absoulute quality is not required (and neither is progressive scan).

Thanks in advance...

Those Viewmasters are pretty good, I have had one for 18 months & it has played everything thrown at it. Good value for money.
