this is available from eastwood hifi in sydney, $399 - or should be soon....

Panasonic are just about to release a couple of new products which will rock the market. The DMR-ES10 is a DVD Recorder which has time slip (thanks to DVD-RAM) and records on DVD-R or RW. Startup time from power on to record is less than one second! This replaces the DMR-E55 which sold for $799 when first released. The DMR-ES10 will sell for $399 (where will it end?)

Also on the agenda is the DMR-EH50 DVD Recorder with built in 80GB Hard Drive, this should sell for between $799 and $899. Both items are due in store 20th June. The Panasonic SC-PM71 Mini System is another ripper (pun intended) for Panasonic. It has a built in SD Card Slot and will rip CD’s to MP3’s direct to the SD Memory Card without a computer – now that’s a handy feature. Available in July with a RRP of $599 – not sure of the discount price on that one yet. Looks like the sleeping Panasonic giant is finally waking up.

Around $99 I suspect. may take another 12 to 18 months though.

Waking up, or getting a wake up call, they are still off the pace but at least looking in the right direction :)
