Hello,
I went to my local TEAC service centre recently to have my TEAC DV-B300
updated from 1.6 to 1.7; however, they refused point blank to flash
upgrade it, claiming "they had problems with 1.7".
Is the service centre just finding excuses to not upgrade old STBs or
has anyone else had problems with 1.7?
Are people upgrading later TEAC STBs and having problems?

They have v.1.07 on their website http://stb.teac.com.au/ if that's what you
mean. You need a "null-modem" cable to do it (try Altronics/David Reid
Electronics for this). Presumably if there was a problem they'd have
withdrawn it from their site, but you can call 1800 656700 and check, I
suppose.

Finally finding out about how crap TEAC and their service are now are we? :)
Like I said b4, avoid TEAC like the plague.

Let me also point you to the below thread "WIN HD Loop".
Or yet again, why not just go to google groups, enter in aus.tv.digital and
type TEAC.

Hi mattabat,
Have had the TEAC DV-B300 from early on and never had a problem with
it. Have too easily gone through numerous upgrades that I've done
myself (though I vaguely recall one such upgrade caused a tiny problem
with the centering or display of certain TV station(s)' EPGs (or
something similar?), but that TEAC promptly released another upgrade
that fixed that). I can't think of any problems I've had with v1.07
since I downloaded it late last year, and as I said the box itself has
always worked fine, as have any other TEAC products I've had over the
years (atleast 1 TV, and some audio equipment)...
(In fact, depending on reviews, am looking at the TEAC PVR-100T as my
next purchase :) C'mon TEAC, when are you going to release it? :( As
already posted, it's even made it's way into a Retravision catalogue,
and all my nearest store's manager could tell me is that it's
"overdue"...)
But again, anyone else had probs with 1.07?
Cheers,
Tim
Gee, I can vouch for that! I know some people have had no problem with TEAC
"total care"
but with me it was a nightmare!! Absolute idiot the supposed support guy I
got on to.
Ignorant, arrogant, insulting and didn't help one bit. Turned out the box
was faulty. No way would he admit that there could be a fault with their
equipment. Took it back, got a new one, all was OK then.
I wouldn't buy TEAC ever again.
