Then you ought to consult a year 8 mathematics text, which may refer to the 'order of operations'.
In this case, the multiplication is completed first, then any additions/subtractions are completed from left to right.

It is quite elementary. I have no idea why you chose to start this absurd poll. I think you are abusing these forums.
No one has suggested the answer is 2493. On the contrary, it is -2493.

You get 6660 if you do each calculation in sequence, and that must not be done. As mentioned above, and discussed in the link (and per linton's BOMDAS :D), the multiplication is done first.
Thus:
2 x 3 + 3 x 4 = 18 NOT 36
I cannot believe we're discussing this.... :)

Not necessarily, both are correct (and A and S can also be reversed). It is also known as BEDMAS. I am glad you have taken the time to familiarise yourself with the concept. I hope you can now achieve the correct answer -- your pupils will be delighted.
