I'm about to ceiling mount my projector or possibly mount it above and
behind my couch.
I'm thinking of a run of about 8m-10m of Component cable, so what is
someone personal recommendation on what component cable I should use.
I was "THINKING" of getting monster cable since i get it for cost
price, but is there a cheaper and or better option?

Run standard high quality RG59 - Canare, Belden etc. You won't notice any
difference between these decent cables and Monster.

Out of curiousity if I wanted to make my own cables, could I do it
using Cat5-6, or use RG6 coax? just curious.

Cat 5-6 is possible using either active or passive baluns. some
possibilities would be:
www.intellix.com - www.eavtech.com.au
www.etslan.com - from Madison Technologies www.madisontech.com.au
www.kramerelectronics.com.au
www.magena-research.com
I personally like and use the Magenta ones for our commercial installations,
but they are a bit more expensive.
RG-6 is not required. RG59 is easier to terminate and work with.

If making your own, make sure you get the lengths as exact as you can - any
difference and you may get colour/sync problems. Not sure how much
tolerance there is, maybe over 10m, % wise, you would have more tolerance
for a few mm out?

Try altronics component cable. 10m was $33. Double shielded on each
conductor. P/N: P6536. Installed this cable just last week and the results
are great. I had to reterminate the connections as they wouldn't fit in the
conduit. Worked out cheaper than buying individual connectors and cable.
