QUOTE:
Xbox 360 Will Have 512Mb Memory During our continuing development with the
Xenon (Xbox 360) we noticed some interesting information in the latest
docs - most notibly about the memory.
Quote:
The Xenon retail console will include 512 MB of UMA system memory.
This is eight times the amount of memory that was available in the Xbox. The
Xenon system software will still reserve six percent (32 MB) of total memory
for system components, such as the visible features of the Xenon HUD, as
well as the non-visible background system tasks.
QUOTE:
Everything we have supports the Beta Hardware that will be shown at E3 - we
hope to be able to support the Xbox's massive homebrew community well into
the next few years - after all it's that same community that has helped to
shape the Xbox's great success.

Erm... if this is the same homebrew community that puts modchips into their
XBOX consoles, puts bigger hard disks in them, and modifies the shell to hold
various LEDs and other disco-like features, then they're being very highly
hypocritical by stating that considering their past attempts at keeping people
from "hacking" the hardware that they paid for with hard-earned money.
If what they really mean by "homebrew community" is people doing things
within the confines of what thine holy Microsoft determines to be proper,
then they need to be educated in the exact meaning of the word "homebrew".

8-) Do you see anything about the "quotes" being attributed to any source?
At all? I can write something and say it is a quote, too:
QUOTE:
Until Microsoft announces the exact details of the forthcoming Xbox version,
all else will be speculation. Just because something is posted to some web
site on the Internet does not make it true, or accurate.

I agree, however there have been various OTHER reports that Xbox2 / 360 /
Xenon will have 512 MB RAM
one example of that:
___________________________________
" Question: Why is there only 256 MB of RAM?
Answer: The mistake many readers are making is to equate the amount of RAM
to that of a PC. A console does not need as much RAM as a PC because it's a
specialized device that serves a specific function and it does not need to
run a full operating system.
That said, a few developers pulled me aside to tell me that they think
Microsoft is upping the RAM to 512 MB. "

from everything Ive read, especially on the message boards, every
indication is that it's getting 512 MB.
so it's not just one or two no-nothing internet sites spreading a rumor.
but we'll find out in a few short weeks
either way.

The xBox will have 512 megabits (Mb) of memory? 64MB in other words? Shit,
my graphics card has twice that :)

RAM is calculated in megabytes, not megabits like you say.
So, we're talking of 521 megabytes.

The original poster used megabits.
