After opinions on this A/V receiver.

Friend of mine is considering getting it. Anyone have any experience
with it? good or bad? apparently rrp is $2299.

Any other suggestions to look at with comparable features/price range?

thanks

I've had one for about 6 weeks now and I find it quite good. I had a
STR-DE845 before that and I thought that was good until I heard the sound
out of the 3000.

I use a 5000 and am very happy with it.
Great bass management, great LCD remote which even stores the CD titles for
the CD changers and controls everything right down to the lights and Air
con.
Miles of headroom, it adequately fills my HT with full, configurable sound.
If the 3000 is, as I believe, a scaled down version of the 5000, you will be
more than happy with it as long as you don't need more power. (your HT is
not massive)

I've got the 5000 as well - it's a lovely piece of kit. Listened to others
and had wanted a Yammie until I listened to the 5000.

Hi David, yeah we all look for and hear things to suit our own tastes, don't we,so i often wonder why why people go "ballistic"over innocent comments and personal preferences on these forums. NO! SONY is not my first choice in RECIEVERS,but i don't hate SONY either,in fact the 51cm SONY tv in my bedroom is a great piece if equipment .
Some of the "purists" probably won't like my ACCUSOUND speakers, but i won't be offended.
Cheers.
