I dont seem to have enough SD signal strength for both my set top box and my TV card. I split the cable at the wall and did not use an amp.
But it wont work. Should i get a mast head amp or just amplify it at the wall.
The signal i have coming into my Set Top Box works fine so i guess the signal is good enough at the wall..
What do you reckon.? mast head amp (sic) or amp/splitter at the wall..?
Both the set top box and tv card work fine by themselves..
There just aint enough when split.. :(
Thanks in advance.

You've got close enough signal .. use the $50 DSE amp with 2 outputs,
perfect for that ..

Use a mashead amplifier. This will amplify the signal before you add the
loss of the cabling to the splitter.

If you use an Amp/Splitter at the wall outlet you are amplifying noise as
well. A very poor solution when your signal is so marginal.

Hi

If you have a clear, snow free analog picture off the antenna with no amplifier then use a distribution amplifier. If your picture is snowy before you split, then use a masthead. Bear in mind that introducing an amplifier, may improve the signal level, but will also increase the noise floor and for digital, you do have to be careful. If they work fine before the split then definitely use a distribution amplifier.
