Is it the same centre/diff as a 4wd Bravo/Courier? & what year model?
If it doesn't match some 4wd, your chances are very slim I'd say. I'm pretty
sure there was a LSD option for the 4WD version. I'll ask the OuterLimits
crew what they know.
I guess you've tried ARB for an Air Locker, if you do remember you can fit
them a lot cheaper than they say, you only need a $15 K-Mart compressor & 1
litre tank to operate them, you should be able to get the locker itself for
under $1100.

No luck there.
I was relying on OL's DTLF137B or Locked Drive.
Now I'm down to the GURU.

I can't get an answer on that one, you might have to make a trip to a
caryard and compare one externally for a start, count wheel nuts too.

Yep, apparently 4WD version is still coming.

I haven't got a Ford place within cooee, so,
I checked the mazford website and it shows housings and
centres as
different part numbers. Leaves me dead in the water.
6 stud wheels.....why you ask that?

More effective option is to go to a dealer's parts section and ask
if they can compare the part numbers between the 2WD and 4WD
hemispheres.
Probably start by asking if they have an LSD for the 2WD. When
they say no, ask them to check whether the hemisphere is
interchangable with the 4WD. It may be the same even if the
housing, axles, etc. are different.
If the hemisphere and the side gear part numbers are the same for
2WD and 4WD open centres, the same LSD, locker, etc. will fit.

LSD it is.
Thanks all, most of you have been a great help.
4x4 rear end going in, which will be beneficial when the
VT auto is transplanted. I'll just put up with using
about 500rpm more until then; get into overdrive quicker
(.8). :-)
Heres Friday quiz early: what commodore auto models have
the tallest overdrive?
ps I'm asking because I don't bloody know. ;-)

Feral, I've gotta ask.
What plan do you have in place to get the Speedo up and running with
accuracy?
Now, we know you have immense respect for the statute robbing laws, so
it behoves me to put the question as just a gentle reminder that an
under-reading speedo might place you in to that most despicable of
anti-social and despised societal categories - the < shudder>
SPEEDSTER!!!!!
That'd be a bloody disaster of the first order. Indeed.

My mistake. It's good shit but costs a bomb. Recommended to all WRX owners
who want a gearbox and not a box of gears. 100,000k service interval on
their gearbox and diff oils. And at $140 for 4 litres you don't want to be
changing it all that often. Where did you get Synlube from? And don't say
the sex shop. ; )

The T700R4 (AKA 4L60 without an E) uses the same speedo drive gears
as a T350. The Commode speedo drive gear is available in about 3
of the original 4 or 5 tooth counts, but all commode V6 autos run a
45 tooth driven. The T350 or T400 driven gear and mathching carrier
can be used.
Calibration by calculator requires knowledge of original commode
tyre diameter, diff ratio and speedo gear ratio to determine the
required revs per metre of the speedo. Then, using that and the
tyre diameter and diff ratio of the vehicle, you can work out what
the required speedo drive ratio is. Stick in the right pair of
gears to get as close as possible to the required ratio, then stick
the commode speedo in the dash. Easy.

Easy, just drive up to 60, 80 & 100kph by a GPS and mark the speedo with
nikko pen lines respectively.

Haven't got any yet - as I say, waiting on the Yankee Dollar.
Site is www.synlube.com. Turn sound down unless you like synthetic
music. Lots of interesting stuff on that site. Lots.
Wouldn't mind betting that the Synlube gear lube is much the same
stuff as the redline, at a more respectable price. Like about one
third the price. Else, its the Mobil SHC relabled which makes their
price a lot worse:-) Add freight, then duty on the freight and base
cost then the GST on the lot (a *legislated* tax on a tax on a tax),
and it's still a fair price cf redline.
It ain't oil, though:-)
BTW, I'm told packages less than $199 landed here standard mail price
might be ignored duty-wise. But I wouldn't trust GovCo as far as I
could spit shirt on that score.
What am I saying???
I wouldn't trust GovCo on ANY score - Especially in view of their cosy
relationship with Big Oil..
That's better.
