Hi,

I was curious if any other owners of the DigiCrystal model SDT-9000PVR have
the same problem that I do?

That is the clock/channel display on the front of the unit is extremely dim,
to the point that even in a very dark room it is difficult to see. I have
contacted the seller (eBay) but as seems to be the general trend these days
they have not responded. I received the unit just a few days back!

I visited the DigiCrystal site hoping to find information, what a pathetic
effort, the site contains no information whatsoever, incorrect images, dead
links atrocious English (as does the manual that was supplied) & no support
whatsoever! Maybe I should just phone?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated thanks?

Cheers Kevin.

Try the link below

DBA Forums (http://www.dtvforum.info/)

In the DVD & Hard Disk Drive Recorders section. There should be an existing thread there.

Digicrystal SDT-9000PVR, Compared to Wintal PVR-X10 (http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=16015/)

Good luck.

I was actually hinting towards making a post on that forum. There are a few users there so hopefully one of them could see your post and possibly help you out. That's all I can suggest.

Unforunately with STBs it's rather hit and miss.

What do you expect for $60
Actually this is the PVR that is going for anywhere from $200-$300 on eBay.

Now that's what I call in depth, constructive & helpful!
BTW your $60 reference shows you don't even know what a PVR is!

Your 'dim display' (and 'inadequate manual') seems to be a common complaint:

From: http://www.productreview.com.au/showitem.php?item_id=2880
"The bad: ....... LED display very faint, manual could be improved.....
The LED display is so faint as to be useless in daylight (maybe it's
just mine)....."

"The bad: Manual is a little patchy..."

and from: http://www.dtvforum.info/lofiversion/index.php/t16643.html
"The not so good: Display is very dim.....Instructions are very basic"

"Manual is a joke"

"WRT the dim display ... just what projector-owners want ... so it
doesnt light up the whole room!"

Appears it's by design so that it doesn't light up the room in home
theaters - read the forums

It isnt exactly rocket science to have the
clock brightness vary with room brightness.

Agreed - I'm just telling him why, not justifying it. And if it's such a
problem, crack the case and shove an LDR in - it's not rocket science :-)
