Teco DVD unlocking code

Does anyone know the code for unlocking a Teco TD2014VP-A DVD Player?

Have you tried a different region disc yet, or are you just curious?
As a lot of DVD players sold in Australia are already region free when you buy them.

Yes it is that one...I received a dvd from the UK and its a region 2 and wont play it says wrong region...I shall try to contact Teco as otherwise im stuffed as obviously its not a well known brand.

It will be based on the same chipset that many other players use, Teco should be able to provide the code required to set it all zone, if not it's likely to still be using the same default code as another player based on the same chipset anyway.

Ive had no luck from Teco unfortunately so is there anyway i can find out how to unlock this dvd player?

Is that because they haven't responded to your requests, or they have won't give you the info? If you can post a picture of the setup menu of your player, or email me one I can most likely tell you which chipset the player is based on and give you the commonly used remote hacks that relate to that chipset.

Ok, this player uses a Sunplus chipset, the default method of changing the region on a Sunplus based player is as follows


1)power on
2) Press EJECT on the remote to open the tray
3) press 9735
4)remote left/ right/up/down key
5)choose appropriate zone (enter 0 for all zone)
6)Press EJECT to close tray and exit.

As I said, this is the factory default used for Sunplus chipsets, it is possible that it has been altered by the factory, if that's the case and it doesn't work let me know and I'll have a look at some of the other methods that have been used with this chipset. If they are using something totally out of the ordinary you may need to wait for Teco to supply you the code, I've never seen a Sunplus based player that couldn't be made all zone via a remote hack though, so as long as the give you the info you should be ok.

Could that be an ESS based player?
I havn't seen any Sunplus players, so I don't know for sure, but the setup menu looks a lot like the one on the XMS888.

Could be too actually :confused: , I have a Sunplus player in front of me now that has the same menu, but as you say it's much like the 888 menu also, that makes it a little harder as there is also a lot of variety in the codes used in ESS based players, may need to wait for an answer from Teco unfortunately.

Just a thought, so far every Sunplus based player that I have used has had a very pale blue background in the setup menu, if it's other than that then it may be an indication that it is an ESS chipset.

Its not a very pale blue background...its a med/light blue in colour

The XMS150 (DVD player only) had a very similar setup menu as well and was based on an older ESS chipset.
I guess though the layout is fairly simple, so it wouldn't be too much for different manufacturers to have similar looking setup menus.

Could always try this then, but jok11n pointed out that ESS players have lots of different codes, so it probably won't work.

I think Sunplus may have taken some 'inspiration' from ESS, as one factory representative reminded me last time I was in China, R&D usually stands for 'Remember & Duplicate'
