Does any one know where I could get a DVD player with a HDD in it. The
purpose is for storying all my DVD's on so once I get them I just load them
in and never touch the actual disc's ever agian.

I've seen them but cannot remember if they where special units made for a
larger home sytem. The type where there is 19" rack gear in the pantry
cupboard to drive it all! Also you have multiple rooms of plasma's etc etc.

Any help is appreciated.

Any electronic shop has them. They are called computers...

If you were settig this up for some one who is not too technical minded but
knows enough to push play and scroll throw a function menu. You would agree
that a computer is to much of a mine field to navigate.

I've seen the exact item some where just cannot remember where. anyone?

Kmart, Myers, Harvey Normans, Megamart, Clive Peters and any reasonably
sized HiFi store

You might have to compromise quality for space, as most HD recorders are
around 80GB. You wouldn't get many DVDs in high quality on that size.

Players fellas not recorders. I'm not interested in something that can
record TV or the like. Think of it as a mass storage of DVD's only for
playing. There must be something? How do guys make these systems that can
play different movies to different rooms etc. There must be a way.

Hey has any one tried the playstation idea? You can use it as a DVD player!
You can store games on the HDD in it. Well what if they were movies?

Anyone? See simple controls are the key here for use by non technical
people.

Have a look at May's PC Authority. It has a liftout and features
detailing alternatives to do the above.

Use a PC.

Yep, and plenty of kids do just that.

> You can store games on the HDD in it. Well what if they were movies?

Trivial with a PC.

> Anyone? See simple controls are the key here for use by non technical people.

Thats a significant downside.

This maybe something to look at

http://www.scorptec.com.au/index.php?prdid=00014757

No actual dvd drive but could possibly be used in addition to one?
Pricey though as the above unit doesn't include the hdd.

If you want to use your computer to do that, Pinnacle Systems has some
accessories for you to link your computer to your TVs in your house. Have a
look.
