View Full Version : VS Commodore speed sensor
Hi all, will a bog stock standard manual VS commodore run without a vehicle
speed sensor connected?
I realise that the fuel cutoff on decel and the lean cruise mode will not
function, but will the engine actually run properly??

Excellent! Thanks very much for the info :)
The engine in question is my old red 308 and I'm just about to install and
EFI setup out of a VS commdoore. Thing is my HZ ute has a Supra 5 speed in
it and I'm having trouble locating a (any) speed sensor to fit. This means
I can get started and work the VSS out later!
Looks like my Easter break is going get busy!
Cheers Dre

A mate has a W57 Supra box in a Lotus 7 replica and the car has an
electronic VDO speedo, the speedo came with a transducer that fits where
the original speedo drive was.
An instrument supplier that sells VDO speedo's might be able to tell you
if their speedo transducer will give a signal that the VS ECU can read.
