Your probably right,
Most mechanics are honest, hence the mechanic probably would have only
charged him $3.50 plus labour once he worked out it was only the pushrod.
Rather than charging him $3500!

Some maybe honest, most are more likely incompetent, taught by "Monkey
see Monkey do", which means you pay for their stupid blunders.

Finding a good mechanic these days is like looking for a needle in a
haystack!.....

I have been told of many good mechanics,

Unless you mean another type of mechanic..... Lube job anyone?
