View Full Version : Commodore VZ S Ute
Looking at purchasing a VZ S Ute.
Can anyone share any first hand experiences with the vehicle?

You could prob get a VY SS runout ute for close to the same price
and a better look (can't stand the front of the VZ's which is part
the reason I went BA) than the VZ. Heard lots of complaints about
the VZ 6's and the Gen3's in the VY's aren't all that much heavier
on fuel and will give you better performance and driveability than
the VZ.
Cheers,
Rod.

Me,
Im biased also, but buy a runout 04 ss vz there will only be a couple a
grand diff in it.
I was gonna buy a vy2 s last year but I got the vy2ss run out for not much
more I would have been mad to get the s.

not great, if youre in standstill traffic heaps, you may not want to bother
with a gen3. 20l/100km + in reegular traffic, moderate driving though,
15l/100km

Yeah, I was lead to believe that 20l/100km was realistic around town, not
too keen on that sort of mileage..
Sounds like the alloytech does achieve a substantial fuel saving over the
GenIII....
Holden are currently running out 04 plated VZ S Utes for $27,990, seems a
good deal to me.

Can't answer that, as I've never even seen an Alloytec engine yet, but I can
tell you that the GenIII is capable of quite outstanding fuel economy for
it's displacement. It's not at all difficult to get well under 10l/100km on
a trip, and around 14l/100km for city cruising without having to nurse the
things like a granny.
They can drink fuel like a german tank as well if you want to be brutal, but
they offer the best bangs per buck in the consumption game around.
They're also very well supported for after-market goodies.

The Alloytec 175 is nothing to even worry about it doesn't do anything
really better than the old 3800 it replaces except its smoother to the
red line. Its like a $2 coin with a picture of tits than the queens mug
on the back of the coin but it still is just a $2 coin. :-)
