I am still stuffed on the styling but the 5.7 litre V8 Hemi is interesting.

Styling is not bad for a yanky car :-)
I loved the virtual tour, car looks good in 'stone white clear coat'.
It has RWD which is a big +, big motor, IRS, should sell okay :-)

Probably won't steal too much Comm/Falc sales. Will be priced out of the
reach of ma and pa.

ROFL, ma and pa aren't buying Commodores. Only 17% of Falcon sales go to
private buyers. In Feb. , that means only 790 Falcons went to private
owners. Shit, the CR-V sells more than that.

That's the one the BBC Top Gear team tested against the Monaro and V8 S
Type Jag last year, including a sort of slalom on a beach. Two votes
for the Monaro, 1 for the Jag, none for the 300C.

Indeed, being how that Chrysler intended to compete with the Statesmand and
Fairlane since it was decided to bring it to Oz last year :)
I've actually sat in one of the two marketing vehicles they have in the
country, certainly well equipped and oppulent, and looks set to give Holden
and Ford a hiding in the value for money stakes.....

This thing is expected to cost around $70k too. That's a lot of money for a
brick.

Other than the hemi engine under the hood, I don't see a shred of styling
that carries over from the 300C.
FFS it looks like an overpriced Hyundai with an ego.

I've read that it will be around $AU70K. (I forget where I read this)

The styling is 'acquired' to say the least.
I find it odd but typical that a USD$30,000 sedan ends up being $60,000
here!
The 'capacity on demand' engine isn't going thru early life all the
well either. Very high wear on the non powered bank.

I've heard a different figure for outright private purchases since the
BA.
But your not looking at the whole story. You don't take into
consideration personally chosen company cars and salary packaged
sales which are typically bought by a fleet leasing company and
Novated Leased. The latter is a big growth area and helps fuel the
sales of cars like XR's/SS FPV/HSV as well as SUV's.

Perhaps. My figures are based on 2005 sales though (up till Feb). Here
they are if you're interested:
Falcon (YTD 2005)
Private - 1425
Govt fleet - 2624
Non-govt fleet - 4115
Thats 17% private
Commodore is a little higher at about 23% private. Magna (excluding Verada)
is 25%, while Camry is 60%. Kind of shows you which one of the 4 is
*really* the most popular, doesn't it?

$50-60k I believe, but don't quote me until I know for sure. I probably
should have paid more attention at COTM last month, at the CRCA Geelong
rally last year, and at ACD last November..... :)
The V6 engine will obviously be cheaper, I think it might be the one out of
the X'Fire. The Hemi will be the popular one naturally, and hopefully it'll
live up to the reputation preceding it.
