Anyone out there have any thoughts on an MY04 GT.
There's a sedan for sale, auto with 70,000k's (03 compliance, MY04) for
$38,000. Sounds like good value.
Cheers

Just wondeful resale....

For the purchase outlay [$55k+] a similar priced and better engineered
C180Kompressor Benz would still be knocking on $50k.....

Have you actually driven a GT and a Kompressor?

If you have you'd know these aren't even comparable.

<<Have you actually driven a GT and a Kompressor?

sub. no, not interested either now or ever, way over the odds
pricewise.Could not give a flying-fuck if it gets to 100km/h in 5s,
much more to a vehicle than that. They use to be/are cheap nasty
rubbish...

Benz yes [not the 05' "Direct-Control"] Rip-Off priced options list
though top quality engineered unit.Quality built in South-Africa.All
this for Fairmont/Calais money.....

<<If you have you'd know these aren't even comparable

Yes they are, within dollars of each other,Benz is a brilliant European
brand, the other is a Audi wantto-be.I doubt any Benz owner aspires to
own a sub. a BMW perhaps...

Where do you get this from.....next time I have a 2003 C180k classic with
70kms come my way, it's yours for $50k, which is about $15k more than i'd
give wholesale.
Not only do you wear blinkers but they're rose tinted as well.

Right......get out your CV & resume, head out to Milperra, and get a job in
Mercedes-Benz marketing. It pays well as it's the only department within
that empire that gets any funding and they're used to hiring idiots who
have NO idea of what the rest of the industry is achieving.
Good luck.

jackbadger - you're the man.

Nice to see someone here who sees things for what they are irrespective
of badge.

If I could get $45k for my Kompressor, I'd get rid of it... 2003,
29,000km... the market asks strong money but they sell for much less.
The C class is also due for a model change which will further depress
market values.

IMO the Subaru GT and B4 cars are very very well priced and very much
superior to German machinery even up to $100,000. Subaru are in an
enviable position with a very good product and strong demand.

I'd go as far as to say that the GT/B4 are more enjoyable drives than
even our e320!

As far as fit finish, appointments, the luxury Subarus are right up
there with the leather and Mackintosh audio.

Leanne,

It's quite clear this guy talks out of his arse...

He said: "They (Subaru) use to be/are cheap nasty rubbish... "

I can't think of a Subaru made in the past 15 years that I'd even
describe as mediocre.

Try getting a discount on a new Subaru. And I don't even like them all
that much!

But the car's not European at all, it's South African.

Which is exactly why the Subaru is better value.

I owned a 1999 (MY2000) Outback Limited manual. Bought it for $32k in '01
with 14,000km, sold it a year later with 52,000km for...........$32,000.
Truth is I fucking hated it - ponderous handling and uncomfortable and
unavoidable driveline shunt.
However, I can't deny that it did evrything it said on the box, and never
gave a moments trouble. I'd recommend them highly for that reason alone.
For the record, I'm also a fan of Mercedes-Benz, but if I were to recomend
them to anyone there's a good chance that it will come back and haunt me
due to their increasingly common problems. As a MB service advisor once
told me when asked if a Merc I was getting fixed is likely to give more
trouble - "It's a Merc so the X factor (i.e. 'the unknown') is pretty
huge".
Scary.

Yeah that's if you don't add any uber expensive optional extra's. Nothing
wrong with Subaru's at all and the Mercedes Benz marquee better engineered?
not any more like they use to be.

I've driven the B4 but not the GT and it was a fantastic car.

the gt is ten times better than the b4 the lag on the twin scroll turbo is
nowhere near as bad as a b4 which suffered quite badly from lag from one
turbo to the second turbo.
