Subject: TAKE ACTION ABOUT PETROL PRICES I think this is worthwhile trying
Petrol prices - worth thinking about!
I called the number on the bottom of the email, and it is for real. This
initiative does come from Barry Minster, worth calling and chatting to him
if you need reassurance.
Apparently we are going to hit close to $1.35 a litre by the winter. If
this happens the prices will flow on down to the price of every thing we
buy! Want petrol prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent,
united action. Philip Hollsworth, offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain "day"
campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just
laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt ourselves"
by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it
was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with
a plan that can really work.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think
that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at .89 / .95 cents, we need to take
aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not
sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need
to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come
down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol!
And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest
oil companies (which now are: BP and Mobil). If they are not selling any
petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their
prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an
impact, we need to reach literally millions of BP petrol buyers. It's
really simple to do!!
Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how
simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot
of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)
....and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so
on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will
have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (and not
buy at BP and Mobil) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this
email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION
people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet
you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting
together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass
this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 80 cents a LITRE RANGE.
It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol
at Shell, Caltex, GAS. or Gull Outlets and drive past BP and MOBIL
Stations.

Who cares?
I like seeing all those tossers using 2+ ton 4wds to drop the kids at
school suffer; I enjoy wathing the yobbo with the chest-wig wince as he
feeds his 5+ litre single occupant dinasaur another hundred dollars worth
of the planet.
You will be forced to start being more responsible as this simply cannot
go on. I'm no raving greenie by any stretch, but if people want to
continue driving shit like this for their own selfish reasons, you deserve
to have your hip pocket raped.
I'll say now that no matter what replies this post generates, there's no
escaping the FACT that petrol is a finite resource that needs to be
respected far more than it is currently, or you deserve to go broke.

A. they (the petrol refiners in australia) don't actually make much on
the petrol. there is no way they will bring the price down that far
due to demand, as they would stop selling it before they would choose
to make that type of loss.
B. you can't just go and buy Liberty fuel, because there physically
isn't enough of it for all of us! if Liberty etc was suddenly
inundated with demand for petrol, they'd be trying to buy it off the
same companies you want to boycott!.

Until any event sponsored from a significant number of people takes place
the companies and governments will just keep thinking "it isn't upsetting
them that much we'll keep taking their money, maybe up another cent next
week!"
Never will because most people are either too lethargic or too negative to
actually do something, they just whinge doing nothing or try to shoot others
ideas down in flames, but don't come up with any better ideas and aren't
remotely interested in trying anyone elses ideas no matter what chance there
is of it working.
Take myself for example, I will support this idea for the rest of the year,
but I normally buy from Shell or Caltex anyway :-)

Well, yeah its funny to suggest that we should target BP and Mobil branded
retailers.
BP , and to a lesser extent, Mobil, have moved out of the retail market in
NSW.
United and other independant retailers have expanded. Shell is fighting
back with its coles supermarket vouchers.
Woolworths gives you vouchers at its supermarkets and its BigW , and has
some Caltex service stations
(only where there is woolworths sign !)
There's not much we can do.
The real mission for everybody is to buy at the place that is selling
petrol at the cheapest price.
Maybe the secondary mission is to get the supermarket voucher scheme
outlawed, as it decreases competition in the business.

You said a gobfull there.
We had:
Oil Company bandits jerking prices about on a whim.(See market
manipulation by rumour, and worse)
The Motor Industry. (See fuel consumption figures for cars with very
very few notable exeptions)
GovCo Bandits.(See Tax, and collusion with used house salesmen and
others (including tiers of GovCo) to ensure fuel was an 'essential'
component of household expenditure)
And we can add:
And now the Grocers (see 'fake' competition in stores for historical
precedents allowing them to join the 'club')
A more disgusting bunch of shithouses simply couldn't be arrayed
against the citizenry even if we tried to make it happen.
I also note with interest that other odious bunch of turds having seen
the man chance are getting in for their chop. The Chemists, and by
extension the distributors of drugs (who own the chemist 'chains), and
by extension the drug companies, who own their own distribution
networks.
Yup, you can get fuel vouchers from the prime movers of another big
shopper docket scam from the Chemist!
This leaves remarkably few of the traditional rip-off merchants out
there.
I can hardly wait to see how they get involved.
For instance, will the media turds begin to run real time
screen-in-screen betting on the petrol price trends now we have
digital TV. (Screen in screen betting and therefore real time betting
from the home is THE reason we have digital TV. not forgetting the
'everybody has to buy a new one' scam)
Because they can.
And will the computer industry get on board.
And if so, how will they manage?
What about the Communications sector?
So far, they're out in the cold as well. How with those turds play?
Call costs are already loaded to the hilt - but hang on - here's a go
- detection of movement between cells will reveal use of a mobile
phone as a MOBILE!!! Load the costs for these calls!! On safety
grounds!!! By legislation !!!!!!! There it is!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm, Electricity Industry Turds. How about Coal Price Parity and
Natural Gas Price Parity in the local market being hooked up to the
world oil price Scam?
Now there's a idea.

this idea will not work if people stop buying fuel from a certain brand
for one day
fuel companies don't give a shit about daily fuel sales becuase they
vary so much
at the end of the month there would be bugger all difference from the
previous month
and at the end of the year they still would have sold just as much fuel
Kev....BTW this email has been around since I started on the internet in

wasting bandwidth just like those bogus virus emails and spam

Ummm
Liberty fuel gets it's fuel from the Majors anyway
so yeah lets all go to Liberty
Caltex will still sell the same amount of fuel
so they don't give a toss

Do you actually like any business?
they are in the business of making money
they are NOT charities
so if they can find ways of making more money while cutting costs then
they will do it
and so would you, bet you are always on the lookout for ways to save or
make money
your just a smaller enterprise

Accusing me of the argument from self interest, and then bouncing me
for some perceived inconsistency is not the cleverest thing you've
ever done.
I know companies are there to make a profit.
I should, I run one.
And the hoary old chestnut of profit Vs charities gets a run too, I
see.
That's bullshit en extremis.
There are not merely two alternatives available. That is, either a
charity or a rapacious profit making machine.
There are other courses for a corporation to steer. Some do. Most
don't, and that appears to be precisely wrong with out society.
But there's a distinct difference between responsible ownership and
custody of a company WRT ethical pricing and advantage taking.
For instance and just as an example that's simple enough on the
surface...there's the matter of lock-in. You know - the old gag where
(say) you sell Cameras and 'cheap' film.
You wait until everyone has a camera, and actually gets used to the
idea that taking happy snappies is a normal and wholesome past-time.
