That's a bit like asking what it's like to travel in excess of the speed of
light. There are natural laws that prevent these things from happening.

5500 sounded fine on my GH, would say it was wonderful, Rover V8 sounded
better at 6500rpm
2.6 Astron was better for grunt down low really.

I found them good & solid motors, there are a lot of worse ones, Saturn
engine perhaps?

Maybe I shouldn't comment on mine yet. :-O

Except it's done 190k by the odo and seems to pull quite
well up hill and with load.

The first three gears I get through quite quickly but
the loss of revs between 3rd and 4th is over 1000.
Quite wide IMO and it seems it needs to get to 3200rpm
in 3rd to be doing 2000rpm in 4th. Any less and it's a
bit of a struggle.
Seem normal for the donk?

The Saturn in my Galant was a good engine. Would run hard all day and was
really easy on the juice.

Nope. 2.0 and 2.6 Astron's are some of the most troublesome engines ever
made.

Always were a used car liability from a used car department POV, especially
since resale value in the crap they were fitted to was always shit too.

SBCs sound much better at 6000 RPM, particularly under load at around
145MPH. :-)

The state of infrastructure in New South Wales is a disgrace.
I'm a Libran Engineer. I don't argue, I discuss.

Yes, but an SBC at 6500RPM at around 160MPH sounds even better. :-p
