I've only just read Jaycars April catalogue but picked up on some new
products they have that may be of use to people in here.

They have baluns for sending S-Video, VGA and RGB video signals across
Cat-5 cable. I haven't used them myself but thought I'd post the links
as long runs of cables seem to be discussed here reasonably often.

Not a bad product, but a bit expensive...

I used http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/vgacable.html to make my
VGA over cat5 STP.... worked well

OK, I don't want to denigrate a system I have not used, but a few questions:
What resolution signals have you put over this cable?
What length have you run?
What tests have you done to compare with the balun style systems, rather
than direct connection (which is what yours is)?

I have used systems that utilise existing Cat 5/6 cabling infrastructure
(you are using specialised STP, which is not normally installed) operating
1600 x 1200 res to lengths greater than 150 metres with excellent results.

You certainly get what you pay for in these systems, so I would be
interested in your answers.

Guess it depends on how you look at it and the convenience factor. ~$150
plus a Cat-5 cable for a 50m+ VGA cable (for example) seems reasonable
to me.
