I have a bit of a problem with screen flashing. The backlight switches
on and off when I am using it, makes it so difficult to use I have had
to revert to the old 8310 for the time being.

Is this a known or common problem with the 6600? A friend who had one
found that the keypad died after a few months but she was/is an SMS
demon, so I have not had that problem. The screen thing which only
started last night is driving me up the wall.

cheers

Try google. Within seconds, I found the following discussion
mentioning this, or a very similiar, problem:

Did you accept a bluetooth connection/transfer from someone you didn't know?
I haven't heard of this symptom with the latest Symbian virii around, but
maybe it is that.

You could try to format the phone, see if that fixes it.
Here's how;
Backup your contacts to your MMcard and charge up the phone battery first.
Unprotect the card, ie if you have passworded it, remove the password
security. Important, because your phone will not remember the security after
a format and you won't be able to access the card. Take out the card and
switch off the phone.
Press and hold Green dial key, Star key (*) Three key (3) together, then
press the power on key, don't let go of any of them until you see
"formatting" displayed on the screen. You'll probably need three hands to do
it.

You will lose ALL the applications you have installed in the phone memory
itself, as well as the data. But it will be as factory shipped.

thanks, I would probably do that, however its fixed itself
spontaneously, no more problems. I'll see how it goes over the next few
days.
