View Full Version : Lip-syncing slightly out on XMS 750

I recently bought an XMS 750 and have played about 6 DVD's on it. I have noticed that the lip-syncing is sometimes out by a fraction of a second. I can really notice this in a scene when you know exactly when a sound should occur (e.g. when someone is knocking on a door). I played with the settings but with no luck. Does anybody know whether there is an easy fix? Does anyone else have a similar problem with this player? The manual for the XMS 750 is pretty poor (does anything better exist online?)
Cheers.

You don't seem to be the only one with this problem: old forum post (http://www.eyo.com.au/dvdstuff/posts/1119.html).
Some mention not noticing anything, so perhaps you should exchange it.

Thanks for the link to the old forums. I suspect I may have to exchange it.

I bought a XMS 750 about 6 months ago, and have had no problems with it, and i'm extremely picky when it comes to sound and video quality(including syncing problems). They are a good unit for the price.

I agree it is a good unit for the price. Apart from the lip-syncing, the sound and picture is great.

Just to complete the story. SCR replaced the unit and this one is working fine. Just looks like I got a dud to start off. Can't complain with the new one though, it's a great DVD player.

Well I originally bought mine from Brisbane Car Sound on the Gold Coast(same as SCR) had it going up there for a while all the while being very impressed with my purchase.
Since then i've lugged it half way across Australia by car...to Southern Tas.... tried numerous DVD's with it, never had one problem with the sound or video on any its been bashed around, knocked, and still plays well(warning the cheap case scratches reeeeeealy easy)
I tell a lie, I recently purchased the Double Forest Gump Region 4 DVD and on putting the second making of forest gump dvd in it didnt seem to like it and just kept trying to load it up but nothing was happening....a quick switch off and on again and viola worked fine....but a couple of days later tried again and it did the same thing....only with this second DVD in the set though *shrug* dont think im that picky though to worry and it still plays anyway!
I still thoroughly recommended this unit!

I recently saw a Akai DVD player advertised in a Haris Scarfe catalogue. On looking closer I noticed the main display was absolutely identical to the XMS-750, and then noticed the features, again identical (plays video cd/mp3/dvd/bla/bla) and also had the dolby digital decoder built in which again is the same. This Akai unit is $399, my guess is this unit is a re-badged and different front panel on what is internally an identical player to the XMS.
Thoughts anyone?

Yea, I saw this AKAI machine at two stores last night (Harvey Norman and Bing Lee). It has the same display and the back is identicle to the XMS 750. It's pretty common for factories in China to churn out machines under multiple brands.
