Bloody stopwatches Mitsu supplied when Ford tests were done.

lots of sound deadener, insulation and engine isolation can hide even
the most hideous engine noises and vibrations

I have (the wifes car) and I have driven the 3.0L and the 3.6L you must be
joking to think they will keep up with a old Commodore let alone a new one
they were and are a underpowered heaps of shit.

Normally the holes are covered up with grilles of some sort, not just
bottomless pits, and as for the plastic, if every single car had it it would
still be ugly.

The last 3.0L Magna I drove had black oil spewing out of the oil filler area
(course the seal was stuffed) I could tell the owner had just used paper
towel to clean it off the block yet the seal was not replaced on the filler
cap I suspect the reason is that it does not matter if the seal is replaced
as it repeats the same fault again in not time at all seemingly, drove it
then handed the keys back, thanks but no thanks as I had seen enough.

I'd have to disagree with you there. The new Magna would definitely be
able to outperform a four-cylinder VC or VH Commodore.

Yeah, no it's only a tad under 60kW/litre after all......idiot.

Does the plant even have the capacity to build the 8-9000 cars a month it
would need to outsell Commodore? You wouldn't think so, just on the basis
of previous numbers.

(Not trolling here, just saying that even if enough people wanted to buy
Magnas they'd never be able to make enough of them to outsell the
Commodore).

The earlier cars sold well enough when they were still fresh and new, it has
to be said.

FWIW, about two weeks ago a mate of mine took me for a drive in his new
Verada and I have to say it was a pretty impressive ride. I don't know what
it's like to drive, but it seemed to do the job as far as being a
semi-luxury model goes. Quiet, smooth, and comfortable.

Didn't they come with a speedo?

Only if the speedo's not working.

very good.

It's a 3.5 and yess, it was quicker than the Holden back then....you
could always check some roadtests.

You can tell that from one underexposed front shot?
Take a look at any car built today,,,front and rear are plastic,,,have
been for years.

And this indicates what?
That a '97 car can have a dud seal on an oil filler and that someone
could be silly enough not to replace it?

You did a good thing walking away...if they can't be bothered changing
a filer gasket, what else has not been done.

Hey why not we all buy a Magna and at the end of the day inject ourselves

Yep, I looked at a couple of AWD Veradas last week.
Owned by Mitsu, they had 11,000 km on them and were both under $30k.
