I'm with Tel@tra mobile and spend around $350 to $500 p/mth. Have
looked at phonechoice and am trying to decide between (i) M8 Telecom's
$129 BYO Talkcap 1000 plan (ii) Vodafones $149 Megacap or even
Tel$tras $129 Cap Plus Plan.
I travel a fair bit but mostly to towns with some infrastructure.
A couple of the guys I work with have jumped to the Tel$tra capped plan
but I'm worried about the potential cost (at 60c p/m) of going over
their $600 cap. Any thoughts?

Why not try out the prepaid Voda cap first month, if you go over it, it
simply tells you and cuts out.
If you don't, you can check exactly how much you've used on 1512.
Also includes just about everything you can do with your phone in the cap.
AFAIK the telstra and optus are contract jobs only, be it 12, 24 or month to
month - still contractual and still able to exceed the value of the cap with
no warning.
Although, I think you'll be hard pressed to kill off $1200 worth of calls
etc in a month - when you start getting antsy about how much you've used,
you'll probably be at the $300 mark. Seems to go a long way for me, so far
as such i'm currently on the $49 cap and won't break through the $230 worth
this month at this rate.

Thanks - I'll give that a try.

Telstra does have online billing so can check how much you've used, though there is a delay in calls showing up.
Cheers
Tom
Same with Voda Postpaid (prepay is realtime) optarse is the only network
with no prebill feature
