hey im having problems with my lg dvd player,im trying to play .avi files it plays some xvid encoded avi files but then others it just skips over or with some it will play them but the picture would come out as still images but when i have a look in avicodec they are all encoded with xvid so i wanted to know why does it play some but not all of them?
thanks :)
this has been addressed in other threads.
Basically, xvid ain't xvid (as they used to say in the old Castrol oil ads :)). There are many options available for encoding, one being GMC (global motion compensation), which it sounds like you are running up against (where playback seems to be a series of still images). Try getting gspot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/) or mpeg4 modifier (http://www.moitah.net), they will tell you what parameters a file is encoded with. Unfortunately, if the file is encoded with 2 or 3 warp point GMC, you have no option but to completely re-encode the video.
Not sure why it's skipping over some files, but you may have to check the media you are using.
