View Full Version : Territory could use this engine

Like petrol Discovery 3s, the TDV6 engine is based on a Jaguar design, in
this case the 2.7-litre, 24-valve turbo-diesel V6 destined for the S-Type.
The Disco reverts to a single turbo instead of two, and although power is
down, there's a resounding 440 Nm of torque on tap from just 1900 rpm. A
six-speed auto is standard across the range, with a six-speed manual
available in the base model.
Maybe use the twin turbo system for the Terry.

Yeah just what we need, more souped up "cars" with high centres of gravity.
Besides, if you were thinking it would improve its stump-pulling and/or
off-roading ability, that's clearly not what the Territory is about.

I was more referring to better fuel consumption than anything else.

On the cards, Ford AU bought the Jaguar S-Type Diesel that went around
the show circuit. Apparently they pulled the motor and tranny to test
in..... you got it :-)
The question remains. If Ford use this motor, will they drop one of the
turbo's like Landrover did, or will they use both?

By the bean counters I can see a single turbo system.
:-)

I wonder, will the engine fit in the Falcon range as well as the Terry?

Doubt it since Ford has their wonderful *cough cough* factory LPG system.
Although if this car was sold in Europe I would see there would be a large
demand in a turbodiesel option as well.
