indecisive

Hello all! I have an xms-989, purchased from strathfield almost a year ago.
I recently purchased a small 7 inch lcd tv off eBay, and i want to use my
xms-989 in my car with the tv.
I am thinking about taking it out of it's case, fitting it with new front panel
switches, mounting the display differently, stacking all the inside components
one on top of the other, and placing it in a cube-like case.
The only problem i am facing here, is the obvious fact that car cig lighter
sockets dont output 240v, and i'm not prepared to go out and buy a
12-240v inverter just for this.. :P
Instead, i am *hoping* to rig myself up a small regulator circuit, to supply
the correct voltage directly to the mainboard and dvd drive.
Which brings me to my question:
What are the output voltage/s and currents of the power supply board inside
the unit, and does anyone feel that there is anything i should take into
account while performing this modification?
If anyone owns an xms-989, has opened it, and is able to provide the
information i am needing, any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
I am quite literate when it comes to electronics, so dont be afraid to use
any 'jargon' (for lack of a better word) to explain :P
Thanks heaps in advance, to anyone who can help me out :)
