Hi Guys,
I have seen this player previously in Target a while ago but didn't notice until today that it played DIVX....
TEAC 4120 DVD (divx) Player $99
Does anyone know anything about it?
Cheers...

Haven't seen it, but I did find a region hack...
(in case anyone buys one and wants to know)

TEAC DV-4120 Multi Region Hack
To change the region code on a Teac DV-4120 I have found the following steps worked on my player.
Using the remote control
1. Turn Player on
2. Open disc door
3. Press the setup button
4. When in the setup menu press the Right Button three (3) times until you get to the preference menu
5. Press 1379
6. Press 0-8 to select the region you want
7. Press setup button to exit
8. Close disc door
9. Turn player off
When you turn the player back on, the player should be set to your new region.
Several points to note:
When on the preference menu at NO TIME do you see what region the player is set to.
The preference menu DOES NOT change when you enter the code 1379
The only change on the preference menu is AFTER you have entered your new region.
The "green" sentence at the bottom changes from "go to preference page" to "ok to preference page"
Multi Region = 0

Are you sure this player does DivX, if the info Andw found for the region hack is correct it would indicate it is using the entry level MediaTek chipset without DivX/AVI support, could be that they are using that code on the later chipset but that would seem unusual. Not a lot of info available on this model anywhere, even the Teac site doesn't really say much about it.
Mediatek do use the code on newer models as well, I'm pretty sure that the '1379' code works on the Omni Dx-4200 as well, and that is a 1389FE chip.

The 1379 code is very common on players with the MediaTek 1379 series chipsets (it's the factory default code as supplied by MediaTek) much less common on 1389 series chipsets as it is not the default, I guess a factory that had been using 1379 chipsets for a customer may find a benefit in keeping the old code for newer models, less enquiries maybe

The box didn't mention it (Quick glance) but targets own description mentioned divx playback.

No mention of it on the Teac website either, I would double check the specs before considering a purchase.
No mention on their brochure either http://www.teac.com.au/documents/DV4120.pdf
You would think Teac would mention it if it did.
You could always buy one, try it and take it back if it doesn't.

Can anyone confirm if this one supports DivX? Target have just reduced it to $79 for this week's catalogue.

I went back to Target and read the features that TARGET stuck above it, and it mentioned a heap of things including SCART connector.
I turned it around and it looked very bare - No scart...
I think they have the feature list wrong....
The box does not mention DIVX.

There are so many players available these days I would just go with something that has some user feedback already, it's not like the Teac is going to have anything going for it that you can't find in other models.
