An interesting 'story' indeed.
QLD residents might care to save that story - the Courier Mail charges
for golden oldies.

<http://www.thecouriermail.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,15699811%255E952,00.html>
or
<http://tinyurl.com/dzazp>

I'm sure there's more to the story than the rag has there, and the
hint is the 1280Km figure mentioned.
Bloody hell.

So all this stuff was plastered onto the ground and the department
concerned didn't know the stuff had been discredited elsewhere, and in
fact banned in Ireland???
Bullshit it didn't know.
Why do I know this? Because that's what any legal challenge to the
bastards needs to hang off. So it has to be denied almost by
definition, and sure enough, that's the first denial off the rank.
As for the stuff about lasting longer. Oh goodie - I'm so pleased
GovCo is saving my money. I'm really simply upset that they have
basically admitted that money is the objective over safety and they
aren't slitting their own throats - because it's GovCo's advertised
jobbie to look after the population.
Clearly - as I've often said, that's a SCAM.

What is worse is the fact the gateway bridge is also covered in it!

NSW is also using the surface. At this stage how much and where and on what
category is unknown.

This raises the issue of country road deaths in particular, but not limited
to that category, I am thinking of a particular very recent VIC crash.

The matter is now before NSW Minister.

Eewwwww...

Another state roads authority and possibly another (Vic) unaware of
the lethal nature of the stuff?
WTF went on there?
Was it the drought that let it happen?

All these study tours and no study.....

This is classic pants down stuff for GovCo.
But the truly suspicions thing is the QLD 2003 legislation - did they
know about this stuff then?

Bet the shredders are running hot about now in quite a few roads
authority offices.
But not to worry, the various state treasuries will bail them out by
admitting their budget christmas holds were a tad severe, and they
really didn't mean to put all those fines to consolidated revenue.
Not.

Nah, this was to protect local councils who had been found lacking
in maintaining their roads and were being sued in relation to pothole
accidents. The insurers were declaring no coverage as this was a
normal risk of driving on a public road. The likelihood was that the
rate/taxpayers would foot the bill (as is the case when sueing any public
authority).

Now whether the government has the right to prevent common law
action against an individual(s) who knowingly allowed the continued
use of a defective surface is another matter. Shame that the Transport
Workers Union is not serious about safety and issue "improvement
notices" on the Main Roads Executives involved. Get them into court
on OH&S - now that would be sweet because the legislation for OH&S
specifically prohibits individuals from being protected by legislation if
I remember correctly.

It might go that way.
However if anyone want to win a case they may as well forget having a
go at the Aus.state level. If not completely corrupt, they're
spineless extensions of GovCo.
As is the high court, I guess - however, that mob have a 'reputation'
to protect. It also has to take care in matters relating to natural
justice and lets face it - H.C.aus is staring into the business end of
the barrel of common law that a great number of people have aimed fair
between it's eyes.

Does it really matter that much?

Is your earth stake good? Is it protected from weather?
Have you had your 12 monthly safety switch testing done?
Are your appliances to Australian standards and have they been tested even
though it's not mandatory in domestic situations.
Are your work PC tags current?

More people every year are electricuted than run over while changing tyres
at night.

They just laid new stuff down my street, mustn't be it or I'd have lost

I hosed it and the water didn't soak in so I have suspicions, it's a blended

Probably the same one who prowls around looking to run people over using non

Triangulo Aviso Averia
Segun Estandard Europeo ECE R27

$16.50 @ auto 1. (RG9212)

All I need now is the uber 'eexy flourescent vest?

Oh, and more space behind the seats - there is far too

These days, so described 'workplace' safety shops have heaps of vests,
jackets and vests. Not all bad that I've seen. Its all a matter how one
values ones life and loved ones. The idea is to never have to use the
items, and I sincerely hope you don't have that need.

Bernd posted a few weeks back it is now mandatory in some EU places to wear
them when attending your vehicle! In addition to hazard warning lights,
triangle...

In our AUS driver training manuals I merely 'suggested' vests at this stage.
Making a point in same to 'use a road channel to alert approaching traffic
of on-road danger' and to use its GovCo alocated 'emergency channel' to
raise help if other means fail, that sort of thing.

Not exactly driving, but 'defensive roadcraft environment' stuff.

Just prompts folk....

Never enough space!
