<center><B>SYNOPSIS </b></center>
Boogeymen isn't a movie, it's more of a compilation DVD that features some of the nastiest movie boogeymen to ever hit our screens. This DVD is like one big special features section that contains the main 56 minute feature that introduces us to the bad guys by featuring a clip from one of each of their movies as well as all kinds of trivia, movie clips, games and much more that horror movie fans will enjoy.
Featured on this DVD of horrors are the following characters......
Pinhead from Hellraiser, Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Michael Myers from Halloween, The Dentist from The Dentist, Wishmaster from Wishmaster, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Fisherman from I Know What You Did Last Summer, Ghostface from Scream, Leprechaun from Leprechaun, Chucky from Child's Play, Candyman from Candyman, Simon from The Ugly, Camilla from The Guardian, The Tall Man from Phantasm, Blade from The Puppet Master, Norman Bates from Psycho, Jason Voorhees from the Friday The 13th Series.

<center><b>AUDIO/VISUAL</b></center>
Boogeymen comes with Dolby Digital 5.1 and English Dolby Surround audio tracks. The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio is good overall however due to the many movie clips being featured, some of the audio is front heavy at times but then there are other clips that make some good use of the surrounds. We must remember that this is a compilation of various clips and each of them were recorded in their own way so this is going to show when viewing them all on the one DVD. But as I said earlier the quality is good overall and infact I will go as far as saying that is better than I expected for something of this nature. The audio commentary by Robert Englund is presented in Dolby 2.0.

The visual side of this DVD is best described as a mixed bag due to the different aspect ratios and quality of the various movie clips being used. But I must say that all of the clips are of a decent visual quality and some of the more modern ones such as Scream are very good indeed.
Some of the older clips such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre definitely show their age but still hold their own on this DVD.
As I said earlier it is a compilation DVD so I really can't go too hard on criticizing the visual side of things especially with so much footage being shown from different time frames, budgets etc. Besides, I thought it was pretty good overall anyway.
The main menu screen does look good with the flickering flames and faces of some of the "Boogeymen" on the blood red background. (The eerie music adds a nice touch too.)

<center><B>EXTRA FEATURES</b></center>
<I> <B> Legends of the Boogeymen </I></b>
Here you will find 11 of the 17 "Boogeymen" listed on a main page.
You can select any of these 11 characters and you are able to read one or two screens of text about the legend surrounding their character including how they came about, who they target as victims, how they kill and more. This is an awesome addition to this DVD and provides some great info about your favourite Horror movie legends!
The 11 "Boogeymen" detailed in this section are as follows:<ul>
<LI>Pinhead (Hellraiser)
<LI>Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare On Elm Street)
<LI>Wishmaster (Wishmaster)
<LI>Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
<LI>Chucky (Child's Play)
<LI>Candyman (Candyman)
<LI>Simon Cartwright (The Ugly)
<LI>The Tall Man (Phantasm)
<LI>Norman Bates (Psycho)
<LI>Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th)
<LI>Michael Myers (Halloween)
</ul>These Legends sections can be accessed through the special features (as one lot of 11) and also individually through the scene selections for each character.

<I> <B>Audio Commentary </I></b>
Robert Englund gives a fantastic audio commentary here starting with his Nightmare on Elm Street clip then continuing through other clips. He gives some technical info(props, costumes, filming, budgets etc) and also a lot of other interesting tidbits that are great to listen to.
There is never a dull moment throughout this commentary as Englund seems to have an endless knowledge of this genre and shares his opinions and info freely.
I really enjoyed his commentary on Jason as it prompted him to talk about the much anticipated on again off again Freddy Vs Jason movie.
This is definitely a quality extra feature that fans will surely enjoy and is worthy of at least one
if not multiple viewings.

<I> <B>"Name That Frame" Game </I></b>
When you first access this feature you will notice a square section with pictures spinning through it
on one side of the screen and a list of horror movie titles on the other.
After a few seconds this spinning pics will stop and a still frame from one of the horror movies that are listed will appear. The idea of the game is to guess which movie the screen shot comes from. You use your DVD remote to scroll through the movie titles until you get to the right one then you click enter.
If you get it right the screen shot will change to a big CORRECT and if you are wrong it will say WRONG. There is also a voice that will say correct or wrong (and may also throw in an insult or two).
After each guess you will need to click on START to select a new Frame.
I went through at least 30 of the frames (without encountering any doubles) and I am guessing there were a lot more than that.
This really is awesome folks and will definitely test your knowledge of horror movies.

<I> <B>Theatrical Trailers </I></b>
Here you will find Theatrical Trailers for 12 of the 17 Horror movies that are featured throughout this DVD. Each of the 12 are listed on a main page and all you need to do is select which one you want to watch.
The 12 Trailers available are as follows:<ul>
<LI>Hellraiser- (1.25 mins)
<LI>Wishmaster - (1.38 mins)
<LI>The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - (1.43 mins)
<LI>Leprechaun - (1.51 mins)
<LI>Child's Play 2 - (1.22 mins)
<LI>Candyman - (2.03 mins)
<LI>The Ugly - (1.36 mins)
<LI>The Guardian- (2.20 mins)
<LI>The Dentist - (1.55 mins)
<LI>Phantasm - (2.01 mins) Widescreen
<LI>The PuppetMaster - (1.59 mins)
<LI>Halloween - (2.42 mins) Widescreen
</ul>These trailers can be accessed through the special features (all 12 listed on the one page)
and also individually through the scene selections for each character/movie.
All of the trailers are presented with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio and all but 2 of them are Fullscreen.
These trailers are fantastic to watch and have to be some of the best trailers I have seen as they generally only give you a small glimpse into what the movie is about without giving too much of the plot away.

<I> <B>Flixmix Ultimate Fights Trailer </I></b>
This is a 1.03 minute trailer for the DVD and Video release of FLIXMIX ULTIMATE FIGHTS which is basically a compilation of (what they claim to be) the best and most famous movie fight scenes of all time. This trailer is presented in Fullscreen with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio.

<I><B>FlixFacts Animated Trivia</I></B>
This is a feature that you can turn on to have fun movie facts and production notes appear throughout each scene. The facts displayed can be anything from filming budgets and original movie names to family/friends cast in the films and how the writers came up with the idea for the movies.
This is a fantastic section with some really great info that I found not only interesting and informative but enjoyable to watch as well.

<I> <B>DVD ROM Features </I></b> <ul>
<LI>Trivia Game - There are 2 levels of Boogeymen Brain Crusher questions here folks.
You must answer at least 8 questions right out of 10 to advance to the next level.
If you survive through both levels you win. All the questions are multiple choice and are to do with one of the Horror movies featured on the DVD.
<LI>Sound Effects - Here you will find 16 different Horror movie sound effects to listen to.
Included in these sound effects are scream, bells, thunder, whips, howls and more.
You are also able to download each of these sounds to your computer. Very cool!

<center><B>OVERALL</b></center>
I must say first of all that I really can't recommend Boogeymen enough to anyone who is a fan of the horror genre. It is so enjoyable to be able to sit down and watch a compilation of some of the coolest horror movies around, not to mention some of the nastiest characters of all time.
Once you have watched the main 56 minute feature that introduces you to these movies and characters
you then get to sit with your remote in hand and check out some very cool extra features that provide some very interesting trivia on the featured movies and characters.
The Robert Englund commentary in my opinion is one of the highlights of this DVD as he seems to be well informed on the various movies, cast and crew. Who knows, he may be reading it off a piece of paper but if so he does it very convincingly with his easy going manner and witty sense of humour.
The extra features give Boogeymen a bit more depth and save it from being just another highlights package of video clips strung together.
Boogeymen has a RENTAL only release date of March 6th 2002.
