From what i've seen and read, they make terrible plasmas. They have
great marketing but their qaulity is poor.

Probably why they're cheap.

I dunno, I've got a friend who has a bunch of their plasmas - after a year
or two they seem to work OK. Comparing them to other plasmas in Harvey's
they seem to have as good an image quality as others - differences tend to
be in contrast and brightness, but adjustment brings them into line.
Personally, the image quality of plasmas don't come close to CRTs, but
provided you stand far enough away, they look pretty sweet.

I've had a 51cm for a couple of years. Never had any problems with it
(although it shits me to tears that when you turn it off, it goes from AV
back to TV).

They look nice. OTOH I got a LG surround system, and it went bung within
months, and getting it fixed under warranty took about 7 months, fixer said
it took them that long to send the bits that needed replacing (cos they were
stuffed).

I've got a 109cm rear-pro which looks/sounds great and no problems,
even great for Xbox gaming with no burn-in, unlike other rear-pros.

I've got a 106cm plasma and definitely no complaints about reliability and
picture quality ... so long as you dont sit too close to the screen ... then
again, the same can be said for just about any plasma on the market.

What's DFT?
I got it at Bing Lees in Moore Park and live a few hours drive from there.
Took it to the local fixers who were named as the LG repairer, but they
tut-tutted and said LG were notorious for being slow to send bits (the bits
in my system were dud and beyond repair) and so they proved to be.

LG, btw, is a re-badged re-created Goldstar.

LG is just the renamed old Luck-Goldstar Korean Chaebol.

They're OK TVs. One annoyance I have is that they take almost 5 seconds
for the tube to switch on after you press the button, and when changing
channels, there is a 2-3 seconds delay after you press the button.

Really painful when you want to flip around.

Our bedroom TEAC has lasted 5 years & only one service call during this
time.

Hey! I've got a TEAC too. Its about 12 years old now too. Never had a
problem with it. The remote is a bit wonky but I'm still using the
original batteries it came with (a pair of triple As - I suppose I
should change them but they still work). Its just the remote's buttons
that are a bit stiff.

I'll never buy another ****in' Philips TV though. I has a small 34cm
one. Nothing but trouble. Some voltage regulator problem. I gave up on
it after getting the same problem fixed for the 3rd time. Crap made in
Singapore too. Only thing worse would be if it was made in some third
world country.

I've also had 2 Philips TVs for some considerable time without any trouble.
The first one was struck by lightning via the antenna, and was replaced by
the Insurance company.

However, I'll never buy a Philips VCR again, nor a LG VCR for that matter,
I have a LG DVD Recorder, which has also had a bad press in the ngs.
This was bought recently, because of the discounted price I got at Harvey
Norman, and so far I've had no trouble with it - may be an improved model.
However, I like my Panasonic DVD Recorder much better.
