I was recently given a BIG 80cm Television..( Centrex CTT8009E )... I know
it's a fairly cheap TV...though it was a present..!
Anyway.... my previous TV was nothing flast just an LG 62cm...so I was
thinking this will be a great improvement...
The thing is though...it looks overly pixelated compared to the old
62cm...and when text is displayed, like the DVD's on screen commands etc.
( eg. "pause" , 'FF" etc )...it is hardly legible !!!!!
I have connected the DVD to the Centrex using the "component' inputs...with
good quality cables, and also tried the standard ( yellow ) video connection
as well... so I'm wondering if there is some other setting that i should be
adjusting to rectify this ??
Any ideas please ??
cheers,

Its a cheap file of shit. Hope whoever got it for you did not mean to
give it to you :)
Iam sure their are some optiosn on the TV that can make it look
better. Componet conections are the best. But you might try Svideo and
composite depends on the TV. Some like different connections better.
Get a svideo cable and try that. you never kniow.
Or go and buy a HD 86cm WS,Flat screen tv :)

well... it was a a present from my children...so i can't really
complain..plus i I picked the model out...for $450 dollars you'd be hard
pressed to beat the value for money....I'm actually really enjoying watching
all of my old full screen ( TV series ) DVDs on it...HUGE pic... but
anyway...I'll give the S-VHS cable a go...and see if it helps...i tend to
think there must be some logical fix to the text issue...

OSD on DVD players are oftem bitmapped fonts overlayed on the video signal.
Cheap DVD players may use a low grade chip to do this, hence OSD text will
look horrible when blown up in size.
Try a different player (even old VCR that was not so cheap) and the could be
fine.
As long as the video is satisfactory to you, who cares about the OSD?
