Does EB price match if you have proof with a catalogue?

Yep, I didn't even have a catalogue when I went in to buy a logitech steering wheel ealier this year for dad's birthday.

I just told them Kmart had it for so much, could they do it for that price or cheaper, the kid looked at his manager and asked if they could do it, he said "If they have them for that price, we'll do it too".

It might be a store-by-store decision, I'm not sure, but havn't heard from anyone about them knocking back a price match.

Cool. Might be able to knab Madden 05 for $43 instead of $58.

Ther catalogue doesn't mention it, but as you said may be store by store decision

Once my sis was getting Dancing Stage Megamix.
Kmart had it for $87 and did not have it in stock.
EB had it for $99 and had it in stock.
So we told themit was cheaper at Kmart so they rang up Kmart and asked for their price.

So there's another case....

As a former EB Manager let me fill you in on the answer to this one...

Technically speaking Head Office would have you only PRICE MATCH a product at the Advertised price and only if it was in fact IN STOCK at the time.

However with certain things with higher margins(such as steering wheels) price matching is more happily done regardless of whether to ring to see if the item is in stock.

The reason they ask for the item to be in stock is as they have a large market share on initial shipments and can often "out flood" the market as being the only place in stock in the first week so the choice to pay full retail is there(of course this is as other places SELL OUT)

In the end of the day it really depends on the manager and how he sees things...i believe its good service to offer the item cheaper, makes for better relationships with customers and return purchases, in fact towards the end of my time at EB even to people who hadnt done the research i would offer them the item at a price i knew was advertised at the time...thats why i always kept the catalogues handy ;)

Linton, What steering wheel did you get? Was it cheap? I am looking to get a steering wheel for my PS2. Can't afford to pay too much for it though.

As you know i think 2 weeks when i was at Eb games (dunnno now) they had a clearance sale. Me being a gamer who wants to save money goes to have a look around so i went to gamerush. They had some pretty cheap stuff like 30 bucks on platinum games. So i went to Eb games because of their price match and i said to them hey i found Kingdom hearts for 30 bucks at Gamerush are you guys gonna price match it? They gave me a freaking beating of my life as if what i did was a crime. just cause it would be cut off by 40% they all start going it's impossible and crap that if gamerush gave their games back they could talk to me and they'll buy their stuff there blah blah. But i'm a bit dissapointed cause you have price match damn policy. Follow it, just cause you don't get much profit.

eb are complete morons from my experience. and also are very expensive.

when i bought my nintendo ds i went to an eb store near where my girlfriend lived. I knew that my local eb store (highpoint) had the ds for $188. But this store had a price of $197 or something, and they have a price match garantee, but they wouldnt even match another one of their stores. the guy said they're in a different area or something. complete gayness.

game rush are heaps cheaper, and have heaps better service.

I grabbed the logitech force feedback wheel.
I would of loved to buy the logitech Momo steering wheel for him, but it was a bit too pricey when compared to the plain force feedback.
The wheel is still great though, and this was just after GT4 was released and the prices dropped right down on this model. :)
