Firmware Updates?

Hi People,

I have 2 DivX players, a DVX-558 and a LG DV9723P.

The LG is far superiour to the DVX in it's playback image, obviously a better software implementation.

So, does anyone know of a firmware upgrade for the DVX-558, or even what make it is (DVX has to be a badge of another brand???).

There is no firmware available for the DVX558, many of the limitations that this player has in comparison to the LG are chipset related and would not be addressable by a firmware update anyway. The DVX558 uses an ESS chipset, ESS have no support for QPEL or GMC, widescreen handling is also inferior. There is also no equivelant to this model elsewhere, applying another firmware from some other model is a guaranteed way to kill the player and render it useless altogether.
