Hello, I like to think I know my way around a pc but XP has humbled me.
By humbled I mean been driven INSANE. I have 2 big problems that I just
can't seem to figure out how to fix/why it happens and one little
problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you need screenshots,
blood, whatever, let me know and I'll give it if it gets me down the
path to fixing these maddening problems.

Problem #1: Opening/Saving Views
Whenever I want to open a file or save a file my folders are listed in
a jumbled order. They are not alphabetical, or even reverse
alphabetical. The folders may be in a Least Used to Most Used order but
I'm not sure I even buy that. If that was the case I have tried to turn
off grouping and used TweakUI to turn off "Group least used
applications first".

The files within the folder seem to be in a "last file saved is last
file listed" order. In other words, if I save a picture called
"picture.jpg" it will show up at the bottom of my list.

The bottom line is I just want to see everything in alphabetical order
whenther saving or opening or viewing. I want to click on my C drive
and see folderA then folderB then folderC etc. I don't want to
constantly have to right click/arrange by name. Helllp!

Restore Sort order in Open and Save dialogs
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_opensaveorder.htm

Or...

To resolve this behavior, reset the default sort order:
1. Right-click Start, click Explore, and then click drive C.
2. On the View menu, click Details.
3. Click the Name column to sort items by name, press and hold down the CTRL
key, and then quit

Windows Explorer by clicking Close in the upper-right corner of the screen.
4. Release the CTRL key.
5. Restart your computer.

NOTE: You must perform these steps exactly as they are listed. For example,
do not quit Windows

Explorer by clicking Exit on the File menu.

From...
Items in "Open" and "Save As" Dialog Boxes Sorted Incorrectly
