Hi NX3, on the Z300/330, someone tried (haven't got a DL burner myself yet), and got it working...
see http://www.zensonic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=162
It looks like you need to set the book type of the disc to DVD-ROM.
The Z300/330 use the same family of chip as the DF8900, so it would probably work.

Is that for actual DVD's or AVI's on the media because I have had no problem with putting several AVI's onto a D/L DVD then playing them in the 8900.

All I did was use nero to burn a data DVD.

AVI files, I set as as ISO.

What brand disc were you using and + or - dvdrs ?

Verbatim +r

At the moment its a bit hard to justify using this media anyway when you consider the price difference 35c for an 8x +r 4.7Gb blank or $6.50 for a D/L 2.4x +r 8.5Gb blank even if the d/l media was half its current price it doesn't come close.

[edit] one thing to note with the verbatim nero thought they were 4x discs, on my machine they burnt happily at that speed but under most circumstances I would not burn d/l discs at a higher rate than the disc spec.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I've just tried a DVD-R DL in one of my 8900P's and it worked fine....until the layer change at which point it locked up. I'd be interested to hear of any other recent experiences.

As an aside I have a friend with some sort of Philips model which played the same disc and had no problems at all.

Have you tried the latest 1.41C firmware?

Check out this (http://phorums.com.au/showthread.php?t=96386&page=3) thread.

Looks like the only change is some tweaking of DivX subtitles -maybe LG have been paying attention to br0max's efforts... :PI
