I just bought a CDMA Phone which is supposedly only for use with the 'ORANGE' network in NSW/VIC, and am wondering if it can be used on Telstra's CDMA network in W.A.?
Anyone have any Clues?

I'm in Qld where Orange don't actually operate a network, so I'm just
going by what others have said in here.

If you mean can you use the phone on a Telstra service (or a Telstra
reseller such as Southern Cross CDMA or Optus CDMA), the answer would
generally be no.

If you mean can you use the phone in WA whilst it is still active on
your Orange service, the answer is yes.

Outside of the Orange service areas in NSW and Vic, your phone will roam
on to Telstra's CDMA network.

Well, mine seems to work just about anywhere there is Telstra CDMA coverage,
ie SW Western Australia, Broome, Darwin, Cooktown etc. I say just about
because Orange does not seem to have purchased access to all Telstra towers,
just most, so it gets a bit patchy in some areas where Telstra is OK (like
Monto in Qld)

Thanks PPl.............
The Phone actually had a note with it that said it was an 'ORANGE' Network phone, for 'ORANGE' network use only..........So i presume from what you have said,it will roam on Telstra CDMA but cannot be used with Telstra CDMA outright......???
