Hello, have never posted here before. I am pretty much a dinosaur with
computers and would appreciate any help from anyone kind enough to answer.

I may begin with a home-based medical transcription co soon.

1. Their software, Medtype and Medwrite, is DOS-based and not compatible
with Windows and does not require an internet connection.
2. I have Windows XP.
3. I have virtually no medical/drug references and use the internet to look
up unfamiliar medical terms and medication.
4. Because I didn't know what components to order when ordering my computer
(Dell) I do not have a floppy drive.

Is there a way to start my computer in DOS by-passing Windows?
Will it be possible for me to connect to the internet while using their
software?
Should I have a floppy drive installed.

Is there a way to make this work?

Thanks for anyone's help/advice. Mary

Purchase, install and update VirtualPC from Microsoft. It allows you to
install other operating systems that can be started and used while you are
running Windows XP. You can have the best of multiple worlds.

You will need the 3 DOS floppies to install DOS as an operating system
(tough, as you don't have a floppy drive). You could get an external floppy
drive to plug in when you need it.

You can read about VirtualPC here:
