Hi there,

Has any here had any experience with either of
these units?

From what I've been reading the Phillips
has excellent support for a variety of
formats including Divx, Xvid and MPEG
but it's sound quality leaves a lot
to be desired (no DTS, no optical outs etc)

The Sony has optical outs, DTS and DL +R
support, but there's not much postive
feedback (that I can find) that vouches
for it's support of DivX files.

Has any one had first hand experience with
either of these units?

Should I be looking at other brands in preference
to Phillips or Sony.

The LG units seem to be very popular in this forum.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

xstatik

From what I have read the Philips does not have excellent file support, the chipset used cannot support a lot of popular formats, only the basics are covered. By all reports the LG players are the best all rounders at the moment providing you do not need SACD support.
