Generally doesn't happen if the store doesn't "dick the customer
around".

Actually that's an interesting point. Most specialist stores just don't have
the buying power of JB or HN so their cost into store may well be higher. The
specialist store may not be able to match the box shifteres for price but
they will be able to offer far better pre & post sales service and it
depends on the individaul as to the value they place on service ,knowledge
etc. From personal experience dealing with quality retailers when a problem
arises is fairly painless ,dealing with the box shiffters can often turn
into a nightmare of Wagnerian proportions as they just don't give a f***
once the money is in the till. There are good and bad retailers in both
sectors of the market but most long term quality dealers have been in
buisness so long because they can provide the service 'edge'.
