Young bloke living near here got busted 9 months ago for speeding and
lost the ability to drive legally for 12 months and $600.00 fine on
points , got busted a couple of days ago raiding his 800 cc Honda sports
bike on a random rego search on the in car computer in Browns Plains ,
copper was good and left before the driver did saying I cant make you
leave the bike here and we are going the east ( the rider lived west).
Total cost was $2k and 18 months loss on top of the current , so he
will be selling the bike and the car...( no surprise here)
His reasoning was no public transport in the early am to get to work
due to his ride being ill ... doesn't take much.

You sure you aren't getting mixed up with your antics at the Chullora
Twin. ;-) Oh, that's another thread, no, it's actually another topic.

random rego check? Was chatting with one of my mates in the force recently -
he said unlicensed drivers tend to get caught pretty easily. Basically, if
they don't believe the license laws are worth following, they also believe
it's not worth following speed restrictions and other laws regarding the
road. If I was to drive unlicensed (not that I would), I would do everything
I could not to draw attention to myself. He said it is incredible how
frequently they pull over a speeding driver to find they are unlicensed or
have outstanding warrants etc.

what part of that didn't make sense
the person who gives him a ride to work normally, was ill, and he had no
other way to get to work

It was all about the butchering of the language, and particularly the
word 'ride' and it's actual sense.
fucking Yankees and their mis-use of the language + cultural
imperialism + atec.....

Shhhhhh. You don't want to ruin the game by letting them know
that.
In listening to the police radio, it seems that at least one in five licence
checks shows an illegal driver. If these people did not draw attention
to themselves, that would leave the police more time to pull over more
of us that are driving at 3kph over the limit.

Of course. It's all about assessing risk.
I did about 70km at 140 (110 zones) yesterday, along with about 120km at
about 130 (100 zones), plus 110 in most of the rest of the 100 zones and
124 on the F3 near the end of the trip. I know which bits I can get away
with doing what speeds, and adjust my speed accordingly.
Those who have already lost their licences typically are the ones who have
no idea how to assess the risk of detection.
That is, of course, quite separate from assessing reasonable and prudent
speed for the conditions. :-(
