AWW - c'mon, give Pete a fair go. It is Queensland ya know! How can you be so insensitive towards him. He's a nice
dinkum bloke who will apologise for his police minister, tell us he'll fix it and we'll all live happily ever
after.......... just like any other other fairytale!

BTW. Anyone recall Sir Joh's "Q" cars (and motorcycles)? They were unmarked vehicles, driven by (non uniformed)
cowboys (as most Queensland police were during Sir Joh's dictatorship (cowboys that is) were) up and down the Gold Coast
Highway (before multi lane)? The turds (and I mean that in any sense that you might happen to choose) deliberately
provoked drivers (tailgated, cut them off when overtaking (forcing them to have to brake heavily), etc, etc and etc)
into a road rage state so that they might break the law - - and, of course, book them when they did notwithstanding the
fact that they, themselves, had broken the law while being agent provocateur.

It wasn't for some years later when quite a few (Queensland) police service cowboys were sent to prison for their
brilliant agent provocateur work during operation trident. The dumb f*cks actually stole cars themselves - and got
caught - I guess they got what they deserved from their fellow inmates!

Sir Joh definitely knew how to run a police state without ending up in gaol himself (but police commissioner, Terry
Lewis did) - although Joh got uncomfortably close on occasions. :)

Sir Joh also was responsible for the sacking of a good cop, Commissioner Ray Whitrod - for being honest and refusing to
'cow-tow' when the bum, Lewis was appointed his deputy against his (Whitrod's) wishes.

This, and stories about very senior police officers in other states, make me feel good, warm and safe knowing we are all
in good hands!

There now - I feel beter already :)

No
they just never proved he was guilty

the guy was bent long before he got into Politics

he had plenty of "Good Mates" in the Western QLD Shire Councils

and then there was that devistating fire that burned all his earthmoving
equipment in one go as it was gathered at the Miles Showgrounds, the one
that netted him a huge insurance payout and helped him on his political
way

when you have family who worked for him back in those days you get to
know the REAL story
