I came out of a 24 month contract with Telstra last month and got a
call a few days ago from them suggesting I change to a new plan.

I only use around $30 of calls and SMSs a month. A lot of that is on
weekends.

What Telstra plan do people like for that sort of call pattern and
more importantly is now a good time to sign up for another 12 month
plan (I want to stay with Telstra).

I guess I'm asking if anybody knows if Telstra is about to release a
new plan or promotion that I should wait for?

thanks
Alex.

Like all telcos and Telstra is no exception, any details of forthcoming
plans is kept mum until its release. Any consultant or dealer caught
blabbing about plans before release risk losing their job. They are
only allowed to discuss current plans and options. It's a case for you
as a consumer, to watch the marketplace carefully.

He's correct.
That bit of text that reads 'Commercial in Confidence' isn't there for
nothing.

Is the newly-released Telstra Pre Paid Plus revised calling rates of any
use? Free calls to mobiles (max 10 minutes) is on weekends now.

You cant release DETAILS of the new plans, but you can certainly say "there
are new plans coming up shortly, but I cant give you the details"

You can't even go that far. That's stretching Commercial
Confidentiality even by Telstra's standards. What does it state in
Telstra's policies and and procedures?

Nope.
*All* information related to upcoming plans or products, *including release
dates* are considered confidential.

So I got the phone .... but how do I sync it to a PC? I lost all my
numbers recently and it would really suit me if I could sync with
Outlook or similar.

Can you help

Tim

Thanks for that Kwyjibo. I was getting concerned about misinformation
from Michael's quarter.

Any good Telstra plans coming up?

Thought about prepaid?
Advantages:

25c + 1c p/m after 9pm weekdays and all weekend,
Ability to buy Plus pack messages from credit
Can buy cheap credit of ebay when available e.g. Item 5797902702
Whenever K-Mart has 15% off you get 15% off
Same coverage
No binding contract
And if u dont use as much one month, it will stay till next month

Disadvantages

You won't get MRO on a new phone
You can't dial 1900 numbers
Telstra's support becomes even crappier (if that is possible)

Hope that helps,

Here's what Kwyjibo wrote (obviously lifted from a Telstra document for
staff): *All* information related to upcoming plans or products,
*including release dates* are considered confidential.
It means you can't even suggest or hint about any new plans coming up
at anytime. end of story. the confidentiality agreement you sign when
you join the Big T or one of its associated companies means what it
says - keep your mouth shut.
However Michael, it's a free country. Why don't you stick your neck out
and see what happens?

anything of the type

I suppose if those full timers you're talking about only clean dunnies,
then a confidentiality agreement doesn't mean much to them, or to you
for that matter.

Try cleaning dunnies near the boardroom and you might hear something.
